Turn any sound into an MPC kit

PGMForge builds ready-to-load programs for the Akai MPC500 and MPC1000 right in your browser. Drop in samples (or generate a drum kit instantly), and it hands you a .PGM + .wav folder — already converted to the MPC's 16-bit / 44.1 kHz and volume-matched. Copy it to your SD card and Load. No install, no account, nothing uploaded.

PGMForge

The short version

Made for the 500 & 1000

Lay pads out across all four banks — 48 sounds on a 500, 64 on a 1000 — and it writes the real .PGM the machine reads straight off its card.

No more “Unknown File Format”

Anything you throw at it gets quietly re-rendered to 16-bit, 44.1 kHz and levelled, so the MPC stops rejecting your 24-bit / 48k files.

Sounds sorted

One button for a synth drum kit, a dig through public-domain Internet Archive, or just drag your own in. Whichever's least effort that day.

It all happens in the browser — your samples never leave the machine — and you can play the whole thing on your computer keyboard before the card ever goes near the hardware.

How it works

1
Pick your machine

Choose the MPC500 (12 pads) or MPC1000 (16 pads) grid.

2
Add sounds

Load the starter kit, search Internet Archive, or drop your own files.

3
Download the kit

Get one .zip — the .PGM plus all its .wavs.

4
Load on the MPC

Copy the folder to the SD card, insert it, and hit Load.
